I have a pattern layout that includes "<%x>" because my app has 20 threaded objects I want to keep track of. Unfortunately, log4cxx prints "<null>" for all the times when there is no NDC.

Is there a pattern specifier that will make it just *be* null instead of printing "null"?  If not, could someone direct me to the part of the code I can look for how to implement it?
