Hide or disable an existing document type

Hello

I'm not interested in my users creating Files or Forums, so i want to disable their creation.
I thought stop indexing the document type would do it, so i added:

<indexableDocType indexAllSchemas="false" name="File" />

to my project's search-contrib.xml, but it had no effect.

Any help would be deeply appreciated.
