Arla anoncvs broken?

Dear Arla folk:

I'm having trouble checking out Arla from the anoncvs repository. I followed
the directions here:

   http://www.stacken.kth.se/project/arla/

But when I try to actually do the checkout, a password is requested and
non-obvious:

   robert <at> capsicum-afscoda:~/p4/user/rwatson/arla/userspace> cvs -d
     anoncvs <at> anoncvs.stacken.kth.se:/stacken-cvs checkout arla
   anoncvs <at> anoncvs.stacken.kth.se's password:
anoncvs <at> anoncvs.stacken.kth.se's password: Permission denied, please try
   again.
anoncvs <at> anoncvs.stacken.kth.se's password: Permission denied, please try
   again.
   Permission denied (publickey,password,keyboard-interactive).
cvs [checkout aborted]: end of file from server (consult above messages if
   any)

Any hints?

Thanks,

That sounds odd, and I would be surprised if the permissions have changed. Perhaps some local
AFS admin/user can verify.

I do know that the AFS repo worked last month:
http://cvsweb.stacken.kth.se/cvsweb.cgi/arla/arlad/arlad.8

I'll try to check anoncvs too.

thanks

Any luck? I'd love to check it out and update my Arla patches for FreeBSD 7.x
to 9.x and finish getting them merged upstream. I think the only obstaclelast
time was figuring out and testing the ifdef'ing appropriately, it mostly ran
fine(ish) for basic operations. We've had a view VFS locking changes and
gratuitous VFS KPI changes, and a few cred changes, but they shouldn't be to
obad.

That would be great. I don't think anything big has changed here.

The Arla anoncvs server is handled by the local openbsd crowd, I'm told that
it suffered a hardware failure a few weeks back and that they are slowly
getting a new box set up. I can get you a tarball snapshot if that would help?
The AFS repo works for me.

Yes, that probably has value, especially if it's one that I can easily repoint at the anoncvs to continue to
get updates once that's back up.

Perhaps you can do some script magic on the contents of
ftp://ftp.stacken.kth.se/pub/random/tol/arla-cvs-20100505.tgz

Sorry about the delay.

Thanks

Requiring a working AFS client to check out Arla source does seem like a problematic prerequisite, though. :-)

This just shows that the maintainance of a working AFS is easier that
that of a working CVS server.

Most Arla developers have more than one AFS client at hands, but yes,
an annoncvs would be handy at times.

Btw, the following loop:

while not fail do
 cvs update to branch
 cvs update to head
done

With both the repository and the PWD in AFS is a good file system
stress test.

Harald.
