Hi - I have an older machine with a 4.5TB JFS partition that will not fsck after an unclean shutdown. Here is the attempted fsck output: root <at> backup# fsck.jfs -fav /dev/sda1 fsck.jfs version 1.1.15, 04-Mar-2011 processing started: 8/24/2011 12:51:03 The current device is: /dev/sda1 Open(...READ/WRITE EXCLUSIVE...) returned rc = 0 Primary superblock is valid. The type of file system for the device is JFS. Block size in bytes: 4096 Filesystem size in blocks: 1098616311 **Phase 0 - Replay Journal Log LOGREDO: Unrecognized log record type at 0x0fb4b8c. log redo failed (rc=-269). fsck continuing. **Phase 1 - Check Blocks, Files/Directories, and Directory Entries Insufficient dynamic storage available for required workspace (1,6). CANNOT CONTINUE processing terminated: 8/24/2011 15:24:48 with return code: -10097 exit code: 8. It appears the problem we are experiencing is very similar to this one: http://www.mail-archive.com/jfs-discussion <at> lists.sourceforge.net/msg00255.html The hardware in question is an 8 disk 3ware array in RAID5+1. The computer is an old Celeron with 1GB of ram, though it does have plenty of swap. root <at> backup:~# uname -a Linux backup 2.6.37.6-smp #2 SMP Sat Apr 9 23:39:07 CDT 2011 i686 Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU 2.60GHz(Continue reading)
