I can't access the tarball (yet?).

Also, I get the impression I should be switching to 0.7.x in the near
future. I was wondering whether I need to do anything special to get
gnome-packagekit/apper to work with it, or is the API much the same?

It's there now, apologies. I was having a bit of server trouble yesterday.

Yes, this is probably one of the last tarball releases of 0.6.x as
soon we'll branch for 0.8.x and 0.7.x will become "stable".

Pretty much the same. Give it a go, and yell when you have issues. :)
