key bindings

I'm using gnome 2.23.1 on my gentoo Linux computer.
I want to bind windows+l to lock screen (like in windows), in gnome
keyboard shortcuts im define a key combination pressing windows and l
(Mod4+l). But when i'm pressing this combination - nothing is happened.

I'm try to bind windows+t to run terminal - this work's fine, but
windows+m to run mail (evolution) - does not work too...
Can You Help me ?

Check in Preferences > Keyboard if you have more than one layout,
sometimes this breaks things. Try to stick to just one.
It could be a bug also, since you say you are using 2.23.1. Try the
layout thing first.

good luck.

Thank's for help, but removing russian layout does not solved the
problem.

There's no support for binding the windows key, which, by default, isn't
a modifier, but a regular key. See:
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=165343

Using the Windows key as a modifier is currently not supported for
actions run by gnome-settings-daemon [1].

Thank You, but why windows+t (or windows+other key) to run terminal work's fine?

Because that particular shortcut is handled by metacity, not g-s-d.

Re: key bindings

Cutting d-d-l from the Cc. Not the appropriate list.

And that means you could accomplish what you want with
some GConf fiddling. In the Configuration Editor, look
at /apps/metacity/global_keybindings/run_command_$i for
$i from 1 to 12. Set one of these to the appropriate
string representation of Window+L.

(Look at what's set for run_command_terminal for the
correct form, since that's already working for you.)

Then go to /apps/metacity/keybinding_commands and set
the corresponding command_$i to

  gnome-screensaver-command --lock

Voila.

Can't believe there's still no GUI for this feature, we originally
submitted a patch upstream for it in about 2004 IIRC :/ (It's been
hacked around a bit since then and the result is now languishing in
