However, in my opinion it would be better to solve this using shorter variants of flags. This was discussed a year and half ago, starting here http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/lilypond-devel/2010-12/msg00639.html and spreading to multiple threads. I wrote some patches, but i lacked enough experience then to glue everything together; the patches are now in limbo. However, if you'd like to cooperate in this area, i'll be glad to resurrect my work in September (no time now :( ). best, Janek
