Xboard menu fonts

I described the problem here in my last post. I understand that it is an old issue but is there any way to make menu fonts in xboard like in others applications installed in the system(f.e. in Gnome)?
this is Debian wheezy 32 bit Gnome 3 with gnome-shell, xboard 4.6.2-1

Re: Xboard menu fonts

xboard uses the old Xaw widget set, which can only use the original kind of X font, not the newer kind that Gnome, etc. use. So your choices are limited. The fonts you like are probably all the newer kind.

There was a project to convert xboard from Xaw to GTK, but it seems to have stalled.
