[CsMain] Crystal Space cannot run after successful build ~Brian

Hello all,

I'm having trouble with my Crystal Space installation.  Everything builds fine, no errors or anything.  However, when I finish building, I can't run anything CS-related.  Even walktest fails with the following errors:

# ./walktest
WARNING: could not load plugin 'crystalspace.graphics2d.glx'
Error loading Graphics2D plugin.
WARNING: failed to initialize plugin 'crystalspace.graphics3d.opengl'
ERROR: Console: Unable to locate 3D renderer plugin!
WARNING: failed to initialize plugin 'crystalspace.console.output.simple'
No 3D driver!

crystalspace.system:
  World saving enabled.
crystalspace.system:  No iGraphics3D plugin!
crystalspace.system:  Error initializing system!
Cleaning up...

I am running the CS CVS as of 2 days ago.  I did a full checkout into an empty directory (in case something was holding over that was causing the problem), but to no avail.

I am using Gentoo Linux with a nVidia GeForce4 Ti 4400 graphics card.  I have re-emerged nvidia-glx-1.0.7664 successfully as well, but doesn't change anything.

Any ideas on what I can do to fix this?  Anybody with an nVidia card experiencing problems?

Thanks,
~Brian

It looks as if configure has problems finding your OpenGL. When you do
'configure' I guess it says it can't find OpenGL? Most likely it is
because you're missing Mesa-dev. That is the package needed to compile
OpenGL programs. If that doesn't help then send me your config.log

Greetings,

I had the same problem after I updated my slackware install from "10.1"
to "current" For some reason configure was not detecting "GLX". I had
to go back to 10.1 because I didn't have the time to figure out what the
problem was. Installing mesa didn't help me, all it did was make my 3d
games run extremely slow. Hope it works for you though.
The best to you.

I don't mean 'Mesa'. I mean 'Mesa-dev'! That's a different package.

Re: [CsMain] Crystal Space cannot run after successful build ~Brian

Being a nvidia gentoo user, something that I know can bork a system, is updating the nvidia drivers. My suggestion is to do: 'opengl-update nvidia' and see if that helps. Also, as Jorrit said, check the configure.log, and see if it can't find GLX.

Oh, and as a note about the mesa-dev, I do not have it intstalled, and CS works perfectly. (although I've not updated in about a week.)
