marsbar estimation and signal strength, two questions

Dear marsbar-users,
I have two (mayby basic) questions about the roi-calculations of marsbar (MB). I installed it 4 days ago, so
I'm not experienced in marsbar-functionality so far. I want to use it for fMRI-ROI analysis with SPM5.

Statistic table and averaged values: As far as I understood, MB builds the mean of the values from an
EPI-time series of a defined ROI and uses a model (the SPM5-Model in this case) to reveal for example the
T-value of the ROI for different contrasts. This information can be put out with the „Statistic
Table“ button (I got so far via the tutorial).

What is calculated when I DO NOT let marsbar estimate the extracted data? I get an statistic table as well,
but with different values. Do I HAVE TO estimate the data before (the model has already been estimated by SPM)?

Signal strength: I want to compare the signal strengths within an ROI for different contrasts. What would
be a „valid“ value for that? Does the averaged beta value of the ROI provide this information? And how
can I extract this beta value from marsbar objects?

Answers or hints to my questions would be great,

Best regards,
Tom
