Anas ... just a quick ping to see if you got this?

Dawn - if I remember correctly, Adam mentioned this could also fall into your
area of responsibility ... can you confirm or deny?

Anyone know if Anas is on vacation or anything?

We talked to Anas, and the main OBS needs to continue to fall under release
engineering rather than IT. Release engineering is working on fixing the
current issues.

Re: MeeGo OBSes

Hi Dawn,

Can you expand why we can't help RE team in keeping the services up and running for the benefit of the project,
the users and the community?

Is it political?

Is it a trust issue?

Is it something else?

Our job is to work with servers, we just would like to help here. Nothing more than that.

To be clearer I didn't get the reasons why access will continue to be limited. Reasons that would help to
understand the decision.

Thanks
Stefano

Re: MeeGo OBSes

Stefano,

The release engineering team has procedures and requirements that go beyond what the MeeGo-IT team can support.  These procedures and requirements predate the existence of the MeeGo-IT team itself.  We have a very good understanding of what the technical issues are that have been causing the downtime.  We are working to resolve the issue.  In the mean time if you have concerns I will be happy to come the the MeeGo-IT team meeting to discuss it.  I won't be available next week but can be available the week after.  In the mean time, the responsibility for this server is release engineering's.

Re: MeeGo OBSes

Sure Ryan,

you are welcome to join us whenever you want at our weekly meetings. You know the datetime and have the keys to enter there ;)

Again I want to stress the fact that we are just offering our help here and have no intention whatsoever to interfere with the normal operations and requirements of the Core OBS.

Adam explained already what could have caused the downtime and the corrective actions he's planning to take.

Cheers
Stefano
