there is no keyboard included.
you need to install a virtual keyboard -- with debian that would be either  
vxkbd or matchbox-keyboard.
and even when installed, the keyboard will not appear automatically once  
you enter an edit field!
if you use openmoko-panel-plugin, there's already an option to show a  
keyboard icon, toggling the appearance.
if not, you need to create a button or what ever lxde offers to make it  
appear.
