[Color Computer] New Member

Hello, and thanx for allowing me to join.
I still have my original OS9 L2 and MultiVue manuals and disks, plus the original "The Complete Rainbow
Guide to OS-9 Level II", "Inside OS-9 Level II", the CC3 service manual and "A Full Turn of the Screw" and
finally my old CC3 that had the 6809 pulled out in preps for a 6309 upgrade. The upgrade never was finished
but I started playing with the VCC emulator recently (Jeff's emulator doesn't seem to want to work on
Windows 7).

Now the reason I here now. What's the best program for copying downloaded files to both RSDOS and OS9; (using Windows)?

I've seen programs to copy RSDOS to OS9 (inside OS9) but I have to get that program onto OS9 first (catch 22 stuff)

any and all help is appreciated, and thanx again.

Winston

Hi,

For DECB (there is no such thing as RSDOS), from

http://cococoding.com/cocodskutil/ Thank Aaron Wolfe
My personal blog: http://www.luis45ccs.blogspot.com,
Excuse my English, I use google translator, my language is Spanish, I'm
Spanish but I live in Venezuela
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have not used the latest version as so little time, so much to do.

For OS-9, a MSDOS program run in a CMD window, "OS9".

I have directories "Z", "V" to use Jeff's "PORT" and the "OS9" program (On
RTSI) using CMD.

"PORT" will always work and I have used it a lot.

Re: [Color Computer] New Member

Hi,

Jeff's "PORT" is a MSDOS program to transfer files between your PC and a DECB .dsk. I just started "PORT.EXE"
by clicking on it.

"214 - No Permission" is a NitrOS-9 error code, you need "OS9" to transfer files between your PC and OS-9
.dsk, a MSDOS program also to be run in a Windows "CMD" window. (Harder to use but needed to transfer files to
/ from OS-9 .dsk.)

Neither can be run on NitrOS-9.

If you have transferred an OS-9 program first to a DECB .dsk and then transferred the OS-9 program to a OS-9
.dsk, then look at the OS-9 "ATTR" command to set the "E" and PE" permissions.

Re: [Color Computer] copying files on VCC

UPDATE!!!!

it was nasty (buggered) but I finally managed to move two windows descriptors downloaded off the internet
into NitrOS9.

1. download the OS9 file in question
2. in a CMD window I did a "copy con test.dsk" and a ctrl-Z to create
   the initial file
3. use OS9 (not NitrOS9) to format that test.dsk
4. reboot VCC back to DECB and run a program called "os9rsdos.cuts"
which I had to first use "cuts.bas" to convert.
5. run "os9rsdos.bas" from a WIDTH 32 screen to convert the file
   downloaded in step 1.
6. now boot to NitrOS9 and copy the file to where ever you need them.
(in my case I created a directory in /DD called MODULES)

I said it was nasty.

Re: [Color Computer] copying files on VCC

I believe you could do this in one step with the Toolshed OS9 utility..
well 2.

1. download the file
2. in a cmd window: os9 copy thefile.ext thedisk.dsk!/dd/whatever

Why not just go to the directory in Windows explorer or the like and
right click. Select "New", then select "new text document"

Rename it after it is created.

Is that an FTP error? Did you log on as anonymous?

Anonymous users will typically log in by using a user name of ftp or anonymous, and most users will use their
e-mail address as a password.
