Turba H3 (2.1.3) (final)

The Horde Team is pleased to announce the final release of the Turba Contact
Manager version H3 (2.1.3).

Turba is the Horde contact management application. It is a production level
address book, and makes heavy use of the Horde framework to provide
integration with IMP and other Horde applications. It supports SQL, LDAP,
Kolab, and IMSP address books.

Major changes compared to the Turba H3 (2.1.2) version are:
    * Remember the lastly selected address book during the session.
    * Updated Brazilian Portuguese, Dutch, German, and Traditional Chinese
      translations.
    * Small bugfixes and improvements.

Searching the archives


Is there a way to search the archives for this list on keywords?

The only "archives" page I can find just allows one to view all of the 
messages week by week, or download each week as a gzip'ed text file.

I tried google but to whatever extent this list may be echoed to google 
(and there are SOME turba lists there but I can't be sure if they are 
these), only the development and CVS lists appear to be there.

I'm a newbie at turba (and horde and mysql and databases in general) and 
I'm going to have some questions to post here, and I know how much people 
dislike having to field questions that have been asked and answered dozens 
of times before.

There are links to MARC, Gmane, and Google - at least one for almost  
every list - here: http://horde.org/mail/

This is the first I've heard of MARC and Gmane.  MARC looks like it will do

Searching the archives part deux


Related to my earlier question about searching the archives...

I noticed that each week is compiled into a gzip'ed archive and can be 
downloaded individually.

(Actually, the "gzip'ed" archive isn't really gzip'ed ... if you click on 
it you'll see that it just comes up in plain text without invoking gunzip 
or anything ... but I digress...)

Anybody know if it's possible to download one big file that contains all of 
the archives?  Then I could search that file using grep or some other text 
search tool.

If no such thing exists, then is there an FTP site that I can go to and 
just say "get *" and download all of the text files at once?

I tried ftp.turba.org but there were no mailing list archives there (that I 
could see) ... just distribution tarballs and other support files.

Because your browser understands gzip encoding.

Clarification requested on "Configuring turba" in INSTALL


Good evening, all.

By way of background... I have about 30 years' software development 
experience but no useful background in database systems, and could barely 
spell MySQL four days ago.  I am attempting to install horde and turba to 
use as a contacts manager for my consulting partnership.

So far, mostly thanks to the expert help of Jason Clifton and Ben Chavet 
over on the horde mailing list, I think I have horde installed more or less 
correctly and am now working on turba.

In the INSTALL doc for the turba 2.1.2 distribution, and on 
http://horde.org/turba/docs/?f=INSTALL.html, item #2 under "Configuring 
Turba" says:

"2.  Creating databases ... look in scripts/drivers/ to see if a script 
already exists for your database type (SQL or LDAP). If so, you should be 
able to simply execute that script as superuser in your database."

I was not able to find a scripts/drivers directory, but there is a 
scripts/sql directory that contains the file "turba_objects.mysql.sql".  I 
executed that script with:

mysql -u root -ppassword < turba_objects.mysql.sql

... and it complained about no database specified.  So, I said...

mysql -u root -ppassword --database=horde < turba_objects.mysql.sql
