I may be not joining the discussion I should really join... But, anyway, I've been using Inkscape [www.inkscape.org] for a while by now and it's a great tool for SVG graphics. Yes, I know it's sodipodi's fork, but they evolve much faster and come up with much more new features in every new version, compared to sodipodi, which I used to use earlier byth way. Inkscape can do many _really_ cool things like logical operations on paths, it can convert objects and fonts (!) to paths. And it opens the crystal SVG icons just like it should.
