digikam 2.6.0, fedora 17 no thumbnails in import dialog

Hi,

I'm at the moment testing fedora 17. I use digiKam 2.6.0 provided from
the install.

When I try to import images from my Canon EOS 50d there are no
thumbnails in the import dialog.

Anyone seen this? And maybe have a solution?

What software should I look for?

No problem seen on openSUSE12.1.

/Anders

Re: digikam 2.6.0, fedora 17 no thumbnails in import dialog

No problem here with 2.6.0 version and Fedora 17 too.
I seem to remember that all the albums appeared empty just after the upgrade; but I only had to disconnect/reconnect from my user to get Digikam work properly.

Re: digikam 2.6.0, fedora 17 no thumbnails in import dialog

With Canon, digiKam use a Gphoto2 driver to communicate with camera. Thumbnails are only given for JPEG, not RAW, when driver work fine.

I recommend to use a memory card reader.

Re: digikam 2.6.0, fedora 17 no thumbnails in import dialog

Are you suggesting that there are problems with the gphoto2 version in fedora? With openSUSE I have no problems to see the thumbnails. I haven't had these problems since I bought the camera two years ago.

Yes, probably...

With openSUSE I have no problems to see the thumbnails. I haven't had these problems since I bought the camera two years ago.

As i'm a sony camera user, i can switch from PTP GPhoto2 driver to UMS digiKam driver to test Gphoto2 interface. definitivly, UMS is always better to import pictures in digiKam, but sometime, you don't have choice, and connecting camera to computer is the only way.

Anyway, outside the Gphoto2 driver, using a memory card reader prevent to discharge camera battery to download items on computer, but it's another problem...

Personaly, my ultrabook has an embeded memory card reader, which simplify my live...

Yes, probably...

I'll see if I can build it myself to test.

I'm not that lucky with my camera...
