Groovy 1.5 is there!

Hi all,

I'm very pleased to announce the release of Groovy 1.5.

You can read the release notes there:
http://docs.codehaus.org/display/GROOVY/2007/12/07/Groovy+1.5+released

An upcoming article on InfoQ will give you a more in-depth overview of
this new version.

Thanks a lot to everybody: developers, contributors, users.
Without you, Groovy wouldn't be the great dynamic language it is today.

What happened to 1.1, 1.2, 1.3 and 1.4?

Have I slipped into the future, again??

Ya, last time I checked we were having release candidates for 1.1 line.
I am pretty surprised to see 1.1 release candidate turning into 1.5-final.

As this release was major, compared to 1.0, we decided to give it a
number which would correspond more to the importance of this release.
So we bumped from 1.1 to 1.5 directly.

Thanks for the explanation.
It would be nice if this statement was included in release notes.

I updated the release notes to reflect this numbering change.
Thanks for the remark.

A new version was uploaded.
Have you encountered any issue with this new zip?

Nope. It's fine.

(And the new one is considerably longer than the first: 8,267,187 vs.
7,913,466 bytes.)

Thank you.

Congratulations and many thanks to the Groovy team!  Without Groovy Grails wouldn't be the awesome web framework (and more) that it is.
