Re: More 4D SQL Slowness - Plus other SQL Concerns

I have a radical thought - why not integrate one of the mature open source
SQL engines... Nah too easy.

Re: More 4D SQL Slowness - Plus other SQL Concerns

Make a business case for it, if you can.

Computerworld just ran this:

Given the emphasis on Wakanda, why would 4D put more than the bare minimum of resources into 4D?

Re: More 4D SQL Slowness - Plus other SQL Concerns

I haven't seen any full scaled finance application, not to mention ERP
runs entirely on thin client. Some of them might incorporate some veiwing
function on thin client but not its daily operation.

RE: More 4D SQL Slowness - Plus other SQL Concerns

Doug,

I read that article, and the author was not really talking about fat clients
in general, but about Oracle's fat client, and the inability of the Oracle
speaker to justify the continuation of their fat client.

I don't think that article makes a good case, in general, for replacing
something like 4D Client with an iOS app. I have an iPhone, I have
downloaded many iOS apps, and none of them come close to the complexity of
even my simplest 4D applications.

Is it just me?

Milan,

I followed the link, and I agree; Quick Sale, if it does all the web site
suggests, is as powerful as many fat client applications. it

(I wonder how many development hours they put into developing that puppy?)
