Fwd: Personal Changes

Hi all,

I'm sorry I haven't helped out with the recent discussions. Here at
least is my latest update for those who are curious.

Re: Personal Changes

Burning Man was great; my head feels pleasantly rewired. However, I
think I've come to realize that I'm not going to be happy writing
tools for developers, the same developer community that keeps the
status quo. It's irrational, but seemingly true.

I've already started a project to start a business. Unlike previous
ones, this one won't have to be such a damn secret. I'll inform when
it's ready to talk about.

In the meantime, I'd like to know if there is any interest in
adopting Slate or parts of it, and what I can do to facilitate that.
What do you think?

Re: Personal Changes

Brian, I sympathize with your decision.  When "Java Joe' is still trying to figure out if adding closures to the language is a good idea, it's not a stretch to think
that Slate might be ahead of its time.   Not only that, but there's so many resources that have to go into a programming environment these days compared to, say, fifteen years ago.  Good luck in your endeavors.

Lee had left a somewhat cryptic post on LtU about "rethinking" some of his ideas, so maybe he's not out of the game completely.

Burning Man has a way of doing that to people.

Keeping the energy to work on open source projects all the time
is hard. You should be proud of the how much was accomplished,
and the effort that you and everyone who has contributed put into
it. It's definitely best that if the project stops being fun that
you probably should let it go to someone else.

Good luck. And have fun.
