Red/Cyan anaglyph filter in Croquet

Is anyone aware of a filter existing in the Croquet code (like the
wire frame window that could be brought up in Cobalt) that can be
applied - but in this case a red/cyan anaglyph filter (as opposed to
the wireframe filter/window).

Best Regards,
- Rich

Re: Red/Cyan anaglyph filter in Croquet

Rich: Yes -- but it was deployed in Jasmine Croquet. I'll find it and
give you a link to download. It worked so beautifully -- and I
demonstrated it at C5 in 2006. I would love for it to be ported to Cobalt.
(and would do it myself if I had the opportunity).

Ed,

Did you get a chance to post the anaglyph filter code link?

Re: [Croquet Cobalt] Red/Cyan anaglyph filter in Croquet

Hello,

I have just uploaded the experimental anaglyph TStereoFilter into Cobalt contributions repository.
It is based on the work of Daniel Faken (ChemStereo for Croquet Jasmine).

Best regards,
Nikolay

[Open Cobalt Group] Re: [croquet-dev] Re: [Croquet Cobalt] Red/Cyan anaglyph filter in Croquet

John,

Yes, it would be great.
Thinking that this feature will give an interesting immersion experience to anyone who will work with Cobalt modeling tools especially, like editing mode, painting in 3D, CAD  etc., and have an ability to interact with virtual world in stereo mode, conformable to the human perception of reality.

Thanks,
Nikolay

glMultiTexCoord2fARB - Error: Unable to find function address

I'm getting this error when I use this function and other glMultiTex
functions. Other EXT and ARB functions work fine. What could be wrong ?

It stems from OGLWin32(Object)>>externalCallFailed

The card is a recent NVidia card, OpenGL is all working fine (e.g.
Cobalt runs), and the same code runs fine on my ATI card.

Re: glMultiTexCoord2fARB - Error: Unable to find function address

Hehe,
i am planning to do it right with my NB->OpenGL bindings.

It fails , because all extension function pointer on windoze, should
be fetched using
wglGetProcAddress at already created , and selected rendering context.
See:

Re: glMultiTexCoord2fARB - Error: Unable to find function address

Hi Igor,

you should take a closer look at Croquet's FFI bindings. All the function addresses *are* replaced upon
context creation. Otherwise this wouldn't work at all.

I dimly remember how its done.
The other thing is, that depending on a chosen context's pixel format
it may or may not support an extension.

Nikolay,

Is this package compatible with your non-Euclidean spaces work?  (i.e. can one explore non Euclidean spaces with stereo vision?).

Very awesome work overall.  I worked with Dan Faken on this stuff in 2005/6.

Re: [Open Cobalt Group] Re: [croquet-dev] Re: [Croquet Cobalt] Red/Cyananaglyph filter in Croquet

Edward,

Oh, great to hear the original developer of such impressive stuff, thanks!
I have just tried to port the base of it to the current image to be able to improve and continue the started development process next.

This filter is exactly for Croquet/Cobalt scene graph rendering scheme, but Curved Space Explorer is not fully integrated with it for now (an ongoing work), so this filter is not compatible.

But nevertheless, stereo vision is included in Curved Space Explorer rendering algorithm by hand, so it could be turned on/off in menu in any selected space. So, yes one could explore non Euclidean spaces with stereo vision.

Regards,
Nikolay

Daniel Faken deserves all of the programming credit.  I implemented on various hardware including rear stereo projection systems in Roscoe Giles' High Performance Computing Lab at Boston University.  We also worked with the stereo tiled pane wall mode and had Jasmine Croquet working on a 24 rear projector, 12 pane stereo wall.  We also did great work visualizing molecules with Daniel's .pdb importer and commissioned Dan to write the beginnings of some code that would allow for embedded Croquet spaces with transparent boundaries (to try to tackle the challenge of representing physical models with parts at vastly differing length scales).  I exhibited this work on behalf of Daniel and myself at the C5-06 conference in Berkeley, Ca.  Alas, my boss ran out of funding before this work could continue to its glorious logical potential.  So I'm really glad that parts of the work are being integrated into modern Cobalt and being brought forward now.

      Best Regards,

          Ed Boyce

I have just tried to port the base of it to the current image to be able to improve and continue the started development process next.

This filter is exactly for Croquet/Cobalt scene graph rendering scheme, but Curved Space Explorer is not fully integrated with it for now (an ongoing work), so this filter is not compatible.

But nevertheless, stereo vision is included in Curved Space Explorer rendering algorithm by hand, so it could be turned on/off in menu in any selected space. So, yes one could explore non Euclidean spaces with stereo vision.

Nikolay

Nikolay,

Is this package compatible with your non-Euclidean spaces work?  (i.e. can one explore non Euclidean spaces with stereo vision?).

Very awesome work overall.  I worked with Dan Faken on this stuff in 2005/6.

Thanks,
Nikolay

Great! And thank you for this Nikolay. It'll be in the next build.

Hello,

I have just uploaded the experimental anaglyph TStereoFilter into Cobalt contributions repository.
It is based on the work of Daniel Faken (ChemStereo for Croquet Jasmine).

Best regards,
Nikolay

Is anyone aware of a filter existing in the Croquet code (like the
wire frame window that could be brought up in Cobalt) that can be
applied - but in this case a red/cyan anaglyph filter (as opposed to
the wireframe filter/window).
