Board or Leadership?

Dear all,

In the light of recent changes it is a time to finally decide and
consistently use the name, so Board or Leadership? Members report as
Leadership but on the Squeak website is still named as the Board.

Another question, is Board/Leadership still part of SqueakFoundation or
not? I would say it should be for Squeak in general and not just for
foundation. This should also be reflected on website, now the Board is
behind Foundation: http://www.squeak.org/Foundation/Board/ but it should
be behind Community: http://www.squeak.org/Community/.

What do you think?

RE: Board or Leadership?

Hi Janko,

I've been calling them The Squeak Leadership Council. The members would be
either Counselors or Directors or maybe Leadership Team Members.

I think that until we join the Software Freedom Conservancy
http://conservancy.softwarefreedom.org/ officially there is no restriction
on naming. The issue is that the conservancy then becomes the actual
foundation and we can not represent the leaders of the Squeak Community as
the actual foundation. The name change is driven by them, but I am not a
lawyer.

I would think that it would be a good idea anyway to represent our elected
leaders as something other then the foundation. They should be called The
Squeak Leadership Council, in my opinion.

Regards,

Ron Teitelbaum

re: Board or Leadership?

Hi Janko--

The term "board" is problematic legally, because it implies that
we have a board of directors for an independent corporation, and we have
no plans to incorporate. I prefer the term "leadership team"; it's one
of several teams the Squeak project has (along with the web team,
elections team, etc.).

      thanks,

-C
