Did some additional clean up of the spec files. The test results look pretty similar for the version of papi bundled with libpfm and version of papi with a separate libpfm rpm. I have put SRPM for both libpfm and papi in: http://people.redhat.com/wcohen/papi_unbundled/ One needs to build the libpfm first and install the libpfm-devel before building the papi package. My plan is to split out the libpfm into a separate package for fedora.
