newbie question

I'm running rh 9.0. Tried to install epylog-1.0.3-1.noarch.rpm which asked for
python-abi. I pulled down newer version of libxml2-python. Installing this
required libdb-4.2.so (libdb). Pulled that down and installed the rpm.
Upgrading the libxml2-python gave me an error about the newer version
conflicting with /usr/bin/python. I forced the install and was then able to
install epylog-1.0.3-1.noarch.rpm. So I think I have all the dependencies but
when I run the binary I get the following error:

Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/sbin/epylog", line 30, in ?
    import libxml2
ImportError: No module named libxml2

I looked in the mail archive but couldn't find anything.

Thanks for you assistance,

Calvin

1. Okay, you shouldn't have done this. You should have rebuilt the
epylog SRPM instead -- now your python installation is probably in a
rather confused and potentially conflicting state.
2. RH9, really? Why?

Re: Re: newbie question

I had to export PYTHONPATH to include:

/usr/lib/python2.2/site-packages/libxml2.py

but now I was wondering how I can drop the files into /var/www/html/epylog instead of mailing them (which
doesn't work either). I would rather have it on a webpage.

Thanks,

Calvin

Hmm.. that seems odd.

I run it on debian and I also installed libxml2 for python (don't
remember the exact package name).

It may be nice to search for the module on your system. It could be that
it is either not in the packages you installed or they simply can't be
found. The last problem would be simple to resolve.

The list seems pretty dead, so don't expect a lot of responses :-)
