Linux Essentials Program Available Now

(Sacramento, CA, USA: June 27, 2012) The Linux Professional Institute
(LPI), the world's premier Linux certification organization
(http://www.lpi.org), announced that Linux Essentials, which introduces
new users and youth to Linux and Open Source Software, is now available
at select LPI affiliate locations and IT events in Europe, Middle East
and Africa. The single Linux Essentials' exam leads to a "Certificate of
Achievement".

"LPI empowers its affiliate partners around the world to develop the
best means of promoting professional careers in Linux and Open Source
Our affiliates in Europe, Middle East and Africa will be spearheading
our efforts to implement the Linux Essentials program--they have
exceeded all expectations in the timely development of this new exam."
said Jim Lacey, president and CEO of LPI.  Mr. Lacey went on
to explain that LPI affiliates will begin to offer Linux Essentials'
exams at paper-based testing (PBT) events this summer and in some
instances will begin to offer the exam through LPI-affiliated
internet-based testing (IBT) locations.

organization interested in offering the Linux Essentials' exam should

The Linux Essentials program has been under development by LPI for
approximately two years and includes the participation of qualification
authorities, academic partners, private trainers, publishers, government
