Does ISconf run on HP-UX?

Hi.

Does ISconf run on HP-UX, please?

My environment consists of Red Hat and HP-UX.  I couldn't find a list of supported operating systems on www.ISconf.org.

FYI I just recently finished adding a platform support section to the
wikipedia CM system comparison article [1]; I couldn't find a list
either (other than the mention of Linux and Solaris in the man page on
the website), but asked Steve (ISconf's author) to look at the page,
and he marked all of the *nix based platforms as supported, including
HP-UX. In IRC conversation he said something along the lines of great
care was taken to make sure that it would run on all *nix platforms,
and because of its management model I don't think the platform
differences should effect the operation of the tool (e.g. it doesn't
matter that the tool doesn't know what a swdepot is).

I'm just lurking the list, no first hand experience with isconf on
HP-UX, but according
to a post from Jan 2006 it should work if your python has threading support.
I guess that would most safely apply to the python in HP's internet
express bundle, same applies for my own box. I'd test isconf for you,
but 'see above' ;)

That's the python on my box
  Python.PYTHON-RUN: /opt/iexpress/python/bin/python2.4

Florian

Re: Is anybody using ISconf on HP-UX?

Thank for your reply, Florian.

I downloaded the latest python from HP Internet Express (8.00-2.5), and it does have threading support.

Is anybody on this list using ISconf to manage HP-UX boxes?

I am looking for a systems configuration management solution for my environment (Red Hat and HP-UX).  Want to find out if ISconf might be suitable.

Best,
Aleksey
