AutoAdminLogon on 64-bit Windows 7

Has anyone gotten AutoAdminLogon to work on a 64-bit Windows 7 Pro box?

On a 32-bit Windows 7 box, I can configure windows AutoAdminLogon to allow only Novell logon prompt. However, 64-bit seems to be both windows and Novell prompts or no prompts.

When I use netplwiz or control userpasswords2 to turn on/off passwords, I can verify that HKLM\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\AutoAdminLogon" changes to 1 or 0.

When I turn on/off the Prompt for Novell Login during Windows AutoAdminLogon in the client Advanced Login section, I can verify that HKLM\Software\Novell\Login\AutoAdminLogon changes to 1 or 0.

With both set to ON or 1, I should get a Novell login and no windows login. I don't get either one.

Thanks for any feedback.

Re: AutoAdminLogon on 64-bit Windows 7

Hello Paul,

I am struggling with this too. I have had a Win7 64-bit Enterprise SOE in production for the last few weeks, but don't think I am totally on top of it yet.

My problem is that after the image is put down on a machine, sysprep runs through its' phases and then any AutoAdmin login, as setup in the unattend file, does not work at all.

In my situation it would seem at least one login must take place for the ZCM DLU workstation-associate policy to be picked up. Not having the AutoAdmin login run as part of sysprep has caused having to manually login at least once after an image for that policy to be picked up from ZCM. Workstation-associate printer policies seem to applied without having to do this manual login though (?).

I also find that the Novell Client "Computer Only Logon Default" is not working as described. Automatic does not remember the Computer Only/Novell Logon setting

I also have the registry setting enabled to disable ZENWorks Passive Mode login.

John
