It wasn't that obvious until the rapid release schedule went into production. That webpage shows Lightning 1.4 as the current stable release for the current Thunderbird 12.0 release. That webpage also lists the development releases that work with the development versions of Thunderbird, including the Beta, Earlybird, and Daily. Also the ESR release compatibility. It will change in the next couple of days to reflect the changes in versions for both the application and the extension. Thunderbird 13.0 is scheduled to be released tomorrow. Lightning 1.5 should also be released, but Lightning 1.5b2 works just fine now.
