Getting started with UDK?

is there a "getting started" or "howto" documentation for the UDK, 
explaining what I need to install, check out, compile etc.?

I can suggest you the SDK you'll find at
http://api.openoffice.org/SDK/index.html

it contains various tools and the developper's guide
