HPLIP 2.7.7: Automatic Installer / Problems with spaces in path

Hello,

trying the automatic installer on an Ubutnu 6.06 system runs to this error:
> /bin/sed: can't read Treiber/HPLIP/libhpip.la: No such file or directory
> libtool: link: `Treiber/HPLIP/libhpip.la' is not a valid libtool archive
> make: *** [libsane-hpaio.la] Fehler 1

The right directory is /mnt/raid/.../Modules und Treiber/HPLIP/

So it seems that spaces are not allowed in this installer.

The installer don't tell me. As I do "make" manually, I found out.

Well, I can rename this directory, but it would be nice, if the
installer do not have to run in trouble in this kind of situation.

We looked into this, and it appears to be a limitation in automake or libtool. Please copy the HPLIP tarball onto a path without spaces and try again. In general, it is not optimal to have spaces in path names on Linux.
