RE: Convincing Others?

I have to concur with the advice to "just do it." When you have the chance
to really do it as part of a team, you want to be ready. So get yourself
ready. In the meantime, the senior developers you work with may be perfectly
convinced that they can continue working as they always have: debugging,
reading server logs, riding the platform, etc. And they're not entirely
wrong. 

Do what you have to do. Don't lose heart. You don't have to ask for
permission to do a good job.
