Well that's great.
I'm wondering (Out Loud of course) whom did you get these from or who
originally owned them???

If they were the persons who had installed these packages then we
might possibly ask them, but I know you are fairly through on all
matters and probably got a dead end there :(

Well the only benefit for now is that we would have a copy of it off
the Newton which we could install back on at a later time - Of course
you could always do this by making a backup on Flash Card. Not the
same as sending it back to the desktop but also works.

The other future benefit would be that IF we ever get a clue to what
it's use is then we woudl have a something to fall back on as a copy.

If the file name were directly related to the finding on the internet
I would venture to say it could be a way to transport assembler code

From what I can find, it's possibly a Newton Assembly language compiler?
http://lists.tunes.org/archives/tunes/1997-April/001129.html
Or: "NASM is the Netwide Assembler, a free portable assembler for the
Intel 80x86 microprocessor series, which uses the traditional Intel
instruction mnemonics and syntax."

Yeah,
I would think that you conclusion is probably close to what it might be.
I would further venture to hypothesize that it does this but ALSO that
it might be -
A portable solution to write code where you can transfer to and from a
desktop computer the code you are working on...

By what Frank describes I would say that thoughts on it which I also
contemplated might be correct... but the gap after you tap the icon
could be it wanting to process a data file OR that it's trying to
communicate with a desktop bet eventually fails for whatever reason
because it's not able to get what it's looking OR waiting for.

Hey we can only dream right! ;-)
