[p4] Is there a way to quickly send a typed command from P4V?


Posted on behalf of forum user 'Decker87'.

Hello. I often run into a situation where P4V gives an error and suggests using
a command-line flag. For example, if I try to delete a workspace which has files
open, it suggests using the "-f" flag. However, I do not see anywhere
where I can type this in. No command window or anything. Does this exist
somewhere? Note that I am not asking to use the command-line client.

Posted on behalf of forum user 'scuttlemonkey'.

The same options/flags that you might use on the command line are also available
to P4V. For instance, on the merge/integrate dialogue you can expand
"options" and click the "advanced" tab (screenshot below)
for a list of flags to set. To test this you can right click any file in your
list and go to merge/integrate and see this menu without having to perform an
action if you would just like to explore a bit and then hit cancel.

I think you're stuck with one of two things:

1) Use the 'Open Terminal Window Here' context menu selection to run the p4 commandline, or 
2) Create a custom tool that runs p4.

As far as I know there's no way to customize commands in P4V, you get what you get, with only the possible checkboxes/switches.
