You are subscribed to trac-users and are allowed to post. The rejection
message you got came from canary.abetarda.com, which probably means that
the email address of one of the group members has become invalid. The
message doesn't mention the actual email address, so I can't remove it
from the group.

Re: [Trac] I keep getting my email rejected - please help...

Remy,

Thanks for replying…

Here's the problem I am having :

I joined the text mate google groups forum yesterday.

I later posted a message via the web browser to https://groups.google.com/group/textmate?hl=en

When I submitted the message there was a brief message on the screen something like "The message will post once approved".

A few minutes later I got the rejection email stating that I am not a member of the group, so the email is not the problem, the problem is at the list level, the email is related to the rejection at the google group level, that I am not SUBSCRIBED.

You are NOT SUBSCRIBED to this list.

This shows I am a member of the two groups

Please, if you don't mind look carefully at the messages I received below, I trimmed them down quite a bit. What I need is help with the group not rejecting my NewTopic entry as shown below in the second image. The emails are just letting me know that the group doesn't recognize me as a valid member.

I hope you can help me...

I went to the

https://groups.google.com/forum/?fromgroups#!forum/textmate

and joined, but every time I try to post a message I get a rejection : You are NOT SUBSCRIBED to this list.

I cancelled my membership, and joined again but keep getting the same rejections, and there is no-one to contact to try to get this resolved. I have done everything I can,

You are NOT SUBSCRIBED to this list.

Therefore your message has been REJECTED. We reject email from
non-subscribers as a way to avoid spam.

If you are subscribed to this list then make sure that YOU ARE POSTING
from the SAME ADDRESS which messages are sent to.

If in doubt you can view the headers of a list message. It will likely
have one of the following headers at the top, which shows your
subscription address:

* X-Original-To
* Delivered-To

If you wish to send from multiple addresses then you need to subscribe
all of them.

You can disable mail for all but one of your subscription addresses to
avoid duplicates.

For subscription settings visit http://lists.macromates.com/

Re: [Trac] I keep getting my email rejected - please help...

I think you may be conflating two issues here:

  1. A bounce message from a subscriber to the trac-users list which has
gone invalid and hence bounced. This is common and unfortunate.

  2. The issue with the textmate list thinking you're not subscribed.

The only thing that the two have in common is that they're run through
Google groups. I'd suggest asking the textmate list people for help with
their list. I don't think the Trac guys can really help with that,
because they don't have access to that list config.

Matthew,

I joined the textmate list via google groups. When I submitted the form request for membership, google found that I had a valid id, and I was able to use that id.

Google shows that I belong to two groups, textmate and trac, which I can manage via 'My Groups' at https://groups.google.com/forum/#!memberships

When I post a 'NEW TOPIC' message using the web (not via email) at

everything seems OK, but within a few minutes I get a message from Google stating that 'I am NOT subscribed'.

I have tried to find someone (anyone) that I can send an email to at Google that can help fix this problem, BUT, any message that I send gets rejected because 'I am NOT subscribed'. Even when I tried clicking on the button 'send to list admin', they never seem to get my message, and I get the same 'I am NOT subscribed' reply. There is no way to let them know that the thing is broken.

This reminds me of "Who's on first?"

Basically you have to be subscribed in order to send a message letting them know, that the thing is not recognizing me as a valid user, and I can't let them know it's broken. Think about that one...

I have searched the web, high and low, for any email address that I can send a message to, that will allow them to look into my problem, and cannot find any.

This is why I resorted to posting this message to the trac list, in the hopes that the Trac list admin could forward my problem to someone who could try to get the membership problem resolved for me.

The emails I was getting confused the real issue, which is with Google.

A fellow named Remy replied, so I responded and tried to clarify why I was asking for help on the Trac list, but he never replied.

Anyway thanks for tying to help me. I am most grateful…
