[CinCV] Adding fonts to the titler

Ciao!

I have the need to add fonts to the titler.
The instructions on the manual seems out of date.

I tried the more recent tips at
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cdzzVDwFHzo
with no avail.

I get no errors nor new fonts listed in the font dropdown of the tiler.

Any hint?

Ciao!

Re: [CinCV] Adding fonts to the titler

Hi.

I have just added font, estre.ttf (useless font, only numbers) copied
the font file to '/usr/lib/cinelerra/fonts' following the tutorial
mentioned below but then edited the existing 'fonts.dir' manually.
Tedious but works if you just want to add a specific font.

Note. I had followed the full tutorial but backed up my original
'fonts.dir' first which was lucky as the tutorial had left a new
unusable directory.

Hope this is of help.

Oliver

Re: [CinCV] Adding fonts to the titler

Ciao Oliver!

Thanks for your help.

Unfortunately I have no backup and I do not know fonts enought to edit
the fonts.dir file manually.

I'm dying of curiosity of comparing your working fonts.dir and your
unusable one. Would you be happy to send them both?

Ciao!

Re: [CinCV] Adding fonts to the titler

Ciao Raffaella.

I deleted the new unusable one but when opened read simply '0' (example
attached). I am attaching my current 'fonts.dir' which, to add estre
(estre.ttf already in the fonts file) was copy the entry for georgia,
change the names and then paste in the correct alphabetical sequence.
Opened cinelerra 'et voila'.

Don't worry, I knew nothing about font files before this morning. Still
don't know much.

Good luck and let me know how you do. Oliver

Re: [CinCV] Adding fonts to the titler

Ciao Oliver!

Thank you for the files! :-)

In fact my fonts.dir seems in good shape.
See it (renamed to fonts.txt) at
http://www.g-raffa.eu/Pastebin/fonts.txt

This is the result of running:

cd /usr/lib/cinelerra/fonts/
sudo ttmkfdir -o fonts.scale
sudo mkfontdir
sudo fc-cache

Panefresco is my new font. Still it doesn't appear among the default
fonts in Cinelerra.

Ciao!

Re: [CinCV] Adding fonts to the titler

Hi Raffaella.

Hum. I just downloaded Panefresco250wtItalic.ttf from
http://www.fonts2u.com/download/panefresco-250wt-italic.font extracted
it and moved the file to /usr/lib/cinelerra/fonts/ and then copied and
pasted the relevant lines from your 'fonts.txt' to my 'fonts.dir' and it
shows in the titles list and works fine in cinelerra. Perhaps your .ttf
is corrupted??

Let me know how you go and in the meantime I'll try the mkfontdir
sequence again.

How strange.
My Panefresco fonts looks ok in the Font Viewer.

I'm using my old machine with Ubuntu 11.04 and Cinelerra 2.1.5 but I
would be surprised if this were relevant.

Ciao

Silly me!! I'm using a self compiled Cinelerra!!
My path has to be /usr/local/lib/cinelerra/fonts/ !

Well... Now it works. :-)

Re: [CinCV] Adding fonts to the titler

I just had to add a set of fonts tonight.
Used the ttmkfdir utility, but had to find it on the web first!
That is the easiest and hopefully safest way to add fonts.
