[PiTiVi] PiTiVi slowness with externally-generated .xptv file

Hello -

I have written a python script to translate a playlist from another editing tool into PiTiVi .xptv format.
I am using xlm.etree to build the file.
Everything appears to be correct, and PiTiVi does not object when loading in the file.
However, there is a severe playback problem.
If I import the same clips into PiTiVi and add them to the timeline, playback is fine.

Running a 'top' on the machine while PiTiVi is playing my custom file shows the CPU is pegged.

Any idea what I could be doing wrong?

Re: [PiTiVi] PiTiVi slowness with externally-generated .xptv file

Hi Andrew,
I'd be curious to see, would you like to provide a sample of such a
playlist and the python script you've made to do the conversion?

Have you tried using Meld (or some diff tool) to compare the xptv
generated by pitivi and the xptv generated by your script? Perhaps there
would be a clue to be found there.

Re: [PiTiVi] PiTiVi slowness with externally-generated .xptv file

Thanks Jeff.

It looks like my calculation of the start time for the clips in the timeline was causing a minuscule overlap of each clip.  Once I corrected that, the playback appears to be steady.

[PiTiVi] Separate Audio Channels

Hi

I've been making some videos with inputs from 2 mono audio sources
recorded as left, and right in a stereo audio track... this would be
fairly common in a high end audio application, although perhaps 2 tracks
would be rather low.

Is it possible to separate audio tracks from a multi-channel audio
stream into separate audio streams in PiTiVi?... this would be really
useful so that these tracks can be cut/edited separately... etc.

Re: [PiTiVi] Separate Audio Channels

As I understand it, you have one clip whose audio track you would like
to split into two separate audio tracks based on its two channels.

Currently this is not possible in pitivi*, with some luck you could use
avidemux to extract the audio channels.

*: In theory with pitivi you could add the "Stereo Positioning" effect
on two instances of the audio, but I don't think this would work because
I suspect it would pan both channels at the same time.
