Thanks for the help Daniel, apt-cache policy bluefish output this

bluefish:
  Installed: (none)
  Candidate: 2.2.2-1
  Version table:
     2.2.2-1 0
        500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ precise/universe amd64 Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

This I think is stuck in sources.list.upgrades, not sources.list.d

I'll edit the file and try again. You have given me a couple of good ideas, if I still get stuck I'll post again.

Many thanks

Wayne

But then you don't have any (apt) source for bluefish 2.2.3. So I'm
wondering, where the Ubuntu "Software Center" locates bluefish 2.2.3.
I don't use Ubuntu and I don't know, which sources this application
uses. Based on your description of the situation I think, there is
a source registered in this software center, that points to the wrong
repository path at {debian,ubuntu}.wgdd.de.

I deleted the path to Bluefish 2.2.3 as I was trying to clean up the source lists. The problem was the one
pointing to version 2.2.2 was not in sources.list.d so I had a job finding it.

I've now got an empty response to:

apt-cache policy bluefish

So hopefully I can now add a source to the right repository and install 2.2.3. I will try this evening.

Sorry if I confused you, I don't think there is a problem with the Ubuntu list, as Bluefish is not
automatically listed in their software centre, you have to manually add a source.

Thanks

Wayne

Thanks Daniel,

Followed your advice and finally got it installed, all working great at last.

This is by far my favourite editor. I've had a go with VIM, Geany, Eclipse and Netbeans none work as well for me
as Bluefish, although I do copy the VIM xario256 colour scheme into Bluefish as I like a dark scheme.

The pace of development of Bluefish is impressive to say the least. It really looks the part now, I cannot for
the life of me see why Debian and Ubuntu are not including Bluefish in their repositories as standard.

Anyway many thanks for your help.

Kindest Regards

Wayne

They do, but they take the latest version when their distribution is
released, so if we release a version after their latest release their
version is not the latest.

Ubuntu 12.04 has Bluefish 2.2.2
http://packages.ubuntu.com/precise/bluefish

Debian stable has 2.0.3
http://packages.debian.org/squeeze/bluefish

Debian Wheezy has 2.2.2, but I hope 2.2.3 (which is in Debian unstable

Hello,

I cannot confirm this:

I have a fresh Xubuntu 12.04 install and Bluefish (2.2.2) has been
available there without any manual repositories added...

cheers
