Solution for multiple wikis on single database?

I have a working wiki which I use for recipe collection. I now want to have a separate unrelated editable page to make available to some friends. My hosting service restricts the number of databases I can use so I was thinking maybe an additional dokuwiki installation could share the same database.

I started researching the concept of multiple wikis on a single database and discovered talk about wiki farms, http://www.freelists.org/post/dokuwiki/Wiki-Farms

I am unsure about how to proceed and would appreciate any advice.

Thanks, Tom.

Why (and how) do you connect DokuWiki to a database? It is designed to
work with plain text files. Use it as it ist designed and you don't have
to fight with your hosting service about data bases.

You are aware of the fact that DokuWiki doesn't need a database at all?

There are to approaches to wiki farms with DokuWiki atm.

	http://dokuwiki.org/tips:farm
	http://dokuwiki.org/tips:farm2

This should get you started.

You can also save yourself time and explore tips:farm2 as the recipies
there superseed the old "hack" described on the tips:farm page.

Chi, I'd suggest to keep only farm2 and move it to tips:farm.

Sounds like a good idea, but let's use it anyway.

Yes. I was put off tips.farm by the hack stuff and tips.farm2 was so different to the other that I decided it was not worth and just did a 2nd installation.

Oh yeah. My bad guys. Not sure what I was thinking about databases there! Thanks for the link, will do more research and see if a farm if it is a viable solution for me.

You're welcome. One minor nitpick, if you intend to come here more often
