does Plone 3.5 send email with users passwords ?

Hi

I have a Plone 3.5 site (upgraded from Plone 3.1 a long time ago).
New users can choose their own email when they register.

There is also an option with "send email with password".
Ticking this box has no effect.

Is this default behavior?

PS: If I dont let the users choose their email (in security settings), the "link to set email" is sent
(=everything works as expected)
