server upgrade

I'm looking at doing a server OS upgrade late next week. This means the
website, cvs, etc will be offline from 1-2 days.

This upgrade isn't 100% certain yet.

Please let me know if you have any requests for particular software
updates or features for the server.

chris

ps. We are still looking for someone to join the LSDev team as a
webmaster and tools admin. ie. someone who can update the web packages
(dokuwiki, mantis, viewcvs/vc) on a regular basis and implement the
functionality we want (integrate authentication backends, template
designs etc).

Re: server upgrade

well, I have not been very active as of late in litestep, but I can do
the web admin stuff.

I can at least dedicate about 2 hours a week on average if you want.

This is what I do for a living in my real life day job, and as I have
received much benefit from litestep over the years, I would like to give
back a bit.

Thanks for offering Gregory. The items that are on my plate regarding webadmin
stuff that I haven't gotten to:

Upgrade MantisBT to latest version
Upgrade DokuWiki to latest version
Configure dokuwiki mysql authentication plugin to use mantisbt database.
Clean up the Header-banner image and link presentation on lsdev.org,
bugs.lsdev.org and cvs.lsdev.org to have the same style/look.

Long term, I'd like to implement a common look/template on all three of those
sections.

Let me know which you'd like to get your feet wet with, and we'll work out the
details.

Thanks!

And the upgrade is a no go... Timing didn't work out. Go back to doing
whatever it was you were doing... :)

Re: server upgrade

OK, I got some time available....so how about I start with the DokuWiki
upgrade?

As far as the header goes since we are using php for the lsdev site,
this should be fairly painless to implement.
We can just strip the code to do the header and start including it at
the top of all the different pages.
I can start with that, if you want. It is something I could do in an
afternoon with sftp/ftp access.
