Sorry it took so long, but I have looked at the translation now.

I have been given a translation from another French speaking user as
well, so I compared the two and noticed that there are lots off
differences.

I don't want to offend any of you, but since they are so different and
I don't speak French at all I can't know which one is more correct, or
if they are both equally good, just different.

So I have posted both translations here: http://paste2.org/p/11488 and
I was hopping someone who speaks French could take a second look.

Antoine: If you read the other guys translation, but still think that
yours is better, just say so and I'll use yours instead.
zBM: Same goes for you, just tell me that yours is better and I'll use yours.
If both of you think your own is better we'll come up with some other
solution ;)

should I make people reading my email scroll all the way down to see wut

I took a gander at the two sets of strings .. not a SEVERE perusal, but 
at the first few lines anyway. My french is pretty non existant but I 
know enough spanish to dumb through it. It *would* have been easier if 
it went line by line. In any case, the translations seem to be basically 
the same, even though the exact sentances may vary a bit.
example
"Thèmes par défaut distribués avec l'installateur." = "Default theme 
'distributed' (included?) with the installer"
 vs

"Thème par défaut de la distribution LOSI." = "Default theme of the LOSI 
Distro"

MY suggestion is to send it over LSF <http://www.litestep-france.net/> 
and ask them.

Tools -> Account Settings -> Composition & Addressing -> Automatically quote
the original message when replying -> Then, start my reply above the quote

Depends what kinds of e-mail you're writing/reading. In my corporate mail
it's always an ongoing case, where all I need to know usually is in the most
recent mail. If I had to scroll past all that text each time, I'd get annoyed.

On a mailing list like this, it's usually the other way around though.

On gmail it doesn't matter, all (most) quoted text is hidden, so I can read
the conversation mail by mail. Perfect :)

Yeah, really guys, thanks for hijacking my post! ;) :p

On a more serious side, I've gotten a couple of responses to this
though other channels, so here comes an update.

the-golem asked for the original English text to compare with, and zbm
made an update to his translation. All of this can be found here:

I think my version is better, although the differences are few and often 
minor so the other version is also good.

There is almost no change in the updated version (except that the first 
version corresponds to the second version in the older post)

That's another thing that has bothered me about people's disregard for 
netiquette, and ironically, I realized that I forgot to change the

Please excuse the tone of this response in advance.  I've had a bad day, 
so I'm not in a great mood to begin with, and you've touched upon one of 
my long-time annoyances.

If you trimmed your quotes, that wouldn't be an issue.  How far did you 
have to scroll down to read my reply?  Traditionally, replies go below 
the quote because that is the order in which English is read - left to 
right and then top to bottom.  Quoting an entire message to write a 
reply to one sentence at the top is a waste of space (we all got the 
original email, and if there's a group archive, it's there too), and it 
breaks the flow of the conversation.  When it's done repeatedly, it's 
even worse: go to the bottom, scroll up to the top of the message, read 
down to the bottom, scroll back up to the top of the next message, read 
down, scroll up, read down...

Unfortunately, netiquette is pretty much a "dead art."  Actions that 
would have gotten a person booted from a FidoNet Echomail conference 
after a couple warnings are commonplace these days and even accepted. 
Granted, bandwidth is nowhere near as limited as it was then, and 
transferring data is nowhere near as expensive as it was then, but there 
are still the "human considerations."  A natural flow of text makes it 
easier to follow a conversation (especially for someone who is not 
involved in it).  Trimming your quotes saves a person time reading the 
prior emails to figure out what aspect of them you're referring to. 
Trimming your quotes also makes like a LOT easier for people who
