? you need a direct download for a tool, or a url to refer people to?

www.lsdev.org will always have the downloads available. If you need a
link to the last release, one is currently at:

http://www.lsdev.org/lib/exe/fetch.php?media=lsdev:downloads:ls-0.24.7.zip

If you're desiring a generic url, please let me know for what purpose so
we can see if a solution can be had.

Hey,

The initial idea i had was to be able to download the latest build (for
public usage) from a url.
So that nomatter what time, now or in the future when maybe a 0.28.0 has
been released (again) you can still get the current build.
like http://www.lsdev.org/currentbuild.php

I'm still here---thank you for your patience.

Hello, all.

A few months ago I (rather boldly) asked a series of questions designed
to help me understand how the wonderfully/terribly diverse LiteStep
community sees itself and the future.

I fear some might have written me off: I'm sure my sudden disappearance
was startling, even annoying. Why should someone pop in, ask a bunch of
highly abstract questions, then leave?

This is just to let you all know that I haven't "gone away." I have
experienced a series of health setbacks--nothing life-threatening, just
difficult. Meanwhile I somehow managed to experience three (count'em!)
computer failures--all with what are apparently unusual symptoms (and no
two with similar symptoms). Meanwhile my home's cordless phones and my
cell phone died.

Most everything is getting back. I am coping better with the lifestyle
changes, and I have one of the three computers running fine. I haven't
gotten LiteStep reinstalled, yet, but plan on doing that in the next
week or two.

I have nothing to report, project wise, but please accept my apologies
for the delays. I hope to be back and writing some good promotional and
explanatory stuff soon.

Sure. I usually prefer knowing exactly what version of a program I'm
downloading myself, rather than finding out after the fact.

Enjoy the indefinite road trip. I hope it's for leisure... the
'indefinte' aspect puts that into question?

Take care.

Good point, maybe the updater could query your server for the latest
version number
return that number to the user in some form of message box (alongside the
user version number) asking for confirmation to download?

Re: Re: lsdev download link

as far as on ots3 setup, i'm really attracted to the idea of automatically
being able to download any bugfix versions of modules. I'm pretty sure this
either entails some version standardization, or something even more
unwieldy, like some sort of database. Of course you'd still need to ask the
user, and hopefully be able to provide version update info, if asked
(somewhat like ibm's update utility, which is pretty nice). There'd have to
be some way to check for updates as well, and on some schedule. The details
could be worked out later, but it's the idea that i'm enthusiastic about.
I'd be willing to help test for version compatibility as well, i think.
