The photon 3 and freedom are a big improvement over the 2.  Both are much
less like to get turned on accidently and burn all your batteries, both used
a slightly brighter LED, are more water resistant, and the batteries are
easier to change.The freedom's user interface is great  (easy to vary
intensities and to select push-to-light mode). I just wish the freedom has
the 2 minute auto-turn off mode found in the photon 3, though putting it
into push to light mode is pretty good.

The photon 3s have been discontinued, but photon is selling the remaining
stock at 1/2 off until they are all gone.

Concerned about weight... you are kidding right?  My photon 3 with batteries
is less than 5 grams.  I don't know how much heavier it is than the photon
2, but t I doubt it's more than 1-2g.. and can't be more than 5g  heavier

HEY...I wasn't kidding about the weight. LOL. I have
not seen the other models and did not know if they
were making them bigger or not. But, I guess it was
really a pretty silly question now that you mention
it!! I think I will go with the freedoms. They seem an
improvements from the 2's that I currently have,
