RE: hpv Digest, Vol 47, Issue 9

Scott Yoho asked: [hpv] P38 Seat and Zip Ties :
... some of the zip ties seem to work loose after a few rides. ...

You are probably overloading the ties. Try going to the gym & seeing
how much you can leg press.

While it may appear that the seat has a lot of ties holding it on, what
is important is how many are actually doing the work! The 75# is
probably the max _steady state_ load. If you are pushing hard for a
hill, you may be adding some overload levels. The Nylon material that
most ties are made of can creep under load & even the good ones will
degrade in the sun.

Panduit makes a stainless steel tie strap & I think that I saw them at
home depot. I doubt that you would loosen these, but if you ever want
to replace the mesh, you will need a good pair of cutters to cut them
off!

Look into parachute cord or check REI for the small Nylon backpacking
rope.
