The Windcheetah uses a modified lever which pulls two cables directly. My Trice XXL has one lever for each front brake with a separate control - in this case a low-end MTB front gear shifter - to operate the rear V-brake. this case a low-end MTB front gear shifter - to operate the rear V-brake.
The rear brake doesn't do much on most trikes and is usually there to:
a) meet the letter of the law, and
b) act as a parking brake
