when trying to post to this group, then I receive an error report, that the list 
does not exist.

Looking at <http://linux-usb.sourceforge.net/mailing.html>, that seems
to be correct. ;) You might want to use gmane.linux.usb.general instead.
I've marked the group as dead now.
