Customizing JabRef push-to-lyx feature

Hi lyx-devel,

Related to the "LyX functions for bibliography managers" thread:

I once posted a question to the JabRef user board asking whether it was possible
to customize the nice "Push-to-lyx" feature to add some additional functionality
(different sorts of citations, etc). The developer of JabRef replied that it
would be relatively straightforward but required more knowledge of LyX than I
could provide.

It would be great if someone who knows LyX well could advance the discussion
with JabRef.
