You would be surprised that LyX is usually not the only running Qt 
based application on Windows.

Apart from that Qt/support could be linked in statically in
a Gtk/frontend app and then only the actually needed code will
end up in the binary, i.e. not more than when using any other
solution involving third party libraries.
