I believe you're right, Sandy.  Also, from SCM H1790:

6b. Fiction about individual persons or families. For criticism of
fiction about particular individuals or families, including dynasties
and royal houses, assign the name of the person or family with the
free-floating subdivision -In literature, e.g. Faust, d. ca. 1540-In
literature; Mann family-In literature.

So for a work discussing how Jane Austen is portrayed in fiction, you'd
have

600 10 $a Austen, Jane, $d 1775-1817 $x In literature.
