Re: [OER] OER Training Toolkit

Hi Ishan,

Thanks for sharing.  The OER Asia workshop materials provides a powerful example of the value and potential of reuse and remix in open education.

For example:
  1. David Wiley and his team created an online remix game
  2. Inspired by this learning resource I checked with David that it was openly licensed and recreated a wiki version for the Open Content Licensing for Educators Course because we needed an editable version using open file formats.
  3. OER Asia has reused and remixed this resource for use in your OER workshop.
We have already provided free training to approximately 2000 educators using these materials, I'm sure that Davids online game has attracted a large number of hits and the resource has been put to good use in the OER Asia workshop materials.

Nice one!

Hi All,

I was just reminded the other day by someone who was going to conduct a workshop on OER that there is an excellent resources available at oerasia.org(http://www.oerasia.org) for training trainers on the use of OER. Indeed, this OER Training Toolkit put together by Emeritus Prof Dhanarajan of Wawasan Open University, Dr David Porter of BCCampus, Prof Wayne Mackintosh of the OER foundation and Dr V. Balaji of COL is a comprehensive resource which incorporates sound pedagogy and the latest and greatest in the field of OER. The five modules and the learning activities cover all the basics of OER use and reuse from the perspective of trainers. The toolkit is available as an OER from http://www.oerasia.org/oer-workshop to be used as a training resource.

Thanx
Ishan

Re: [OER] OER Training Toolkit

Hi Wayne,

The OER Remix game that David Wiley created is wonderful! I am on an OER taskforce at Empire State College that took David's Openness in Education course. A couple of us made a remix of our own based on his creative commons licensed game that we could use for live presentations we were giving. I have it on wikieducator if anyone would like to use it. We made it simple for the short presentations we had, but it can certainly be made more complicated by adding in ND cards and requiring participants to assign a new license to their remix they make. Here is our page: http://wikieducator.org/ESC_OER_Taskforce The game is at the bottom under presentations.
