Re: ECB & Fresh CEDET

Hi Arne
Sorry about that - I am not used to mailing lists - thanks! :)
I just thought that it would be nice if Emacs used the best version of CEDET available - the problem is not so much how to set it all up, but the conflicting information available on the 'net'.
Not a big deal.
Was just wondering if it will change, and the possible reasons for this confusing state.

Cheers

Jacob

Hi Jacob,

FYI, you replied to me, instead of to the list. :) The problem with ECB is, that it is (was) incompatible to the current CEDET releases (Emacs and bzr). I guess Emacs CEDET will get updated as well, so that CEDET & ECB will work together again just fine.

Also, I have always been using CEDET from CVS / bzr all the time these past years. Once you've set it up, it's pretty much carefree. I actually install my emacs stuff into ~/opt/emacs and copy it to all machines that I need it on.

Best regards,

Hi guys

When will Emacs 24 feature an ECB compatible CEDET?

I am not really willing to mess around with CEDET from bzr just to be able to use the newest ECB.

Why is Emacs 24 using an old version of CEDET?
That's weird. :)

Kind Regards
Jacob

Emacs from trunk (Emacs 24.1) and CEDET both from bzr repository

Awesome! I will try this as soon as possible. I am still stuck on the old CEDET and ECB. :)

I'm currently trying to debug the problem with ECB & Emacs's built-in

look's like methods buffer isn't correctly filled

Re: ECB & Fresh CEDET

Ok, I committed new code to my ECB repo - now it correctly works with
non-semantic tag information in speedbar tree. Please, test new
changes.

P.S. this error arise because we're trying to set text properties to
read-only object - in our case, string in the list of cons pairs. This
list was built when we had no semantic enabled, and used default
parsing routines of Speedbar/imenu

Re: ECB & Fresh CEDET

Alex,

These are great news, someone taking care of ECB!!!

My proposal is to increase the new-ecb branch release to 2.41 and to make it
available as an emacs package. Just   M-x list-packages   and see
ecb there is a must.

I'm using emacs-24.x and your new-ecb and it works fine. The only thing I've found
is that every time I switch compile window visibility with ecb-toggle-compile-window
I get different ecb windows sizes, narrower when compile window is not shown.
Should I use the latest CEDET??   (I think it shouldn't matter for this issue).

Regards,

Re: ECB & Fresh CEDET

Hi

I'm thinking on how it would be better to merge my changes into mainstream...

Regarding CEDET's version, I tested it with CEDET 1.1 & from bzr, +
CEDET from GNU Emacs 24.1 - it worked for me, although it would be
useful to test it with older CEDET/Emacs versions
